Strike Volleyball Club Coaching Position Overview

Strike Athletics is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Club Volleyball Coach to lead our U14 or U16 competitive teams within Strike Volleyball Club. This leadership role requires a proven coach who can develop elite-level athletes, foster a winning culture, and align all training methodologies with the organization’s long-term player development philosophy. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical volleyball expertise, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to mentor both athletes and assistant coaching staff.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Coaching

Plan, organize, and conduct high-quality practice sessions that emphasize skill progression, tactical awareness, and physical conditioning for U14 or U16 age groups

Develop and implement periodized seasonal training plans that align with tournament schedules and athlete readiness

Lead team preparation and strategic in-match decisions at regional, national, and USA Volleyball (USAV) sanctioned events

Foster a positive, competitive, and supportive atmosphere that prioritizes athlete development, teamwork, and sportsmanship

Individualize training to challenge athletes at their appropriate developmental level while pushing them to reach their full potential

Program Development & Administration

Collaborate with the Directors of Volleyball Club Operations to establish annual program goals, team selection criteria, and seasonal budgets

Assist with the tryout process, player evaluations, and team placements for U14 and U16 levels

Manage team rosters, communication protocols with parents and players, and attendance tracking

Oversee the organization and execution of team travel, tournament logistics, and equipment management

Ensure compliance with all club policies, safety standards, and governing body regulations

Staff Mentorship & Growth

Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches within the U14 and U16 age group

Provide consistent, constructive feedback to assistant coaches regarding practice quality, athlete management, and in-game strategies

Contribute to the overall coaching curriculum used across the club

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 3 years of head coaching experience preferably with club volleyball level

Extensive knowledge of modern volleyball systems, training methodologies, and athlete periodization

Experience successfully developing high school athletes for collegiate volleyball opportunities

Exceptional organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking abilities

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire and motivate adolescent athletes

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for daily interaction with players, parents, club administrators, and college coaches

In-depth technical knowledge of volleyball skill instruction including serving, passing, setting, attacking, blocking, defense, and positional tactics

Championship-level strategic planning capabilities, including scouting opponents and adapting game plans

Emotional intelligence and discretion when handling athlete concerns, parent inquiries, and personnel matters

Ability to make data-informed decisions, leveraging individual athlete metrics and team performance analytics

Strong conflict resolution and crisis management capabilities during high-intensity competitive periods

Educational & Certification Requirements

Current USA Volleyball (USAV) IMPACT Certification or willingness to obtain it before season starts

Current SafeSport certification and successful completion of a background screening

Active CPR and First-Aid certification

Physical & Schedule Requirements

Ability to demonstrate volleyball techniques during practices, requiring sustained standing, squatting, throwing, and light-to-moderate physical exertion

Availability for evening weekday practices (typically 2 times per week) and weekend tournaments throughout the club season (November through May)

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for team-related offsite events

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Board of Directors of Strike Athletics. Performance reviews are conducted mid-season and at the conclusion of the club year.
